The A.L. Manager of the Year is...Mike Scioscia
Mike Scioscia is the A.L. Manager of the Year. Ron Washington tied for fourth place with Seattle Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu.
Scioscia received 15 of 28 first place votes. Ron Gardenhire finished second and had six first place votes and Joe Girardi was third. Washington recieved one first-place vote, one second and 11 third-place votes and tied former Rangers coach Wakamatsu for fourth place.

Really?? I can understand Scioscia winning the award for what he did with the Angels after their tragedy and the struggling start they had, but Wakamtsu and Washington 4th and 5th respectively?? That doesn't make sense at all! They accomplished so much after bad years last year with less talent/unproven talent than either Gardenhire or Girardi have!

The voting came from sports writers, most of which only cover the major market teams during the year. The only other teams most sports writers cover are the play off teams. The only time they cover the small market teams is when they have something out of the norm happen. Having Hamliton playing for the Rangers and this being Wash's first managers job, got Wash more attention. I believe Wash should have won, or at least come in 2nd.
