Harrison called up, Madrigal optioned to AAA
The Rangers called up starter Matt Harrison to start Wednesday's game against the Astros. To make room for Harrison on the 25-man roster, Madrigal was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City. It is the third time this season he has been sent down.
In nine starts this season, Harrison has a 4-4 record with a 5.43 ERA over 54 2/3 innings pitched. He made two minor league rehab starts for Double-A Frisco. Harrison has a pitch count of about 95 tonight.
Madrigal has a 10.13 ERA over eight innings spanning eight appearances. His has limited opponents to a .258 batting average. Madrigal has a 1-0 record with a 2.53 ERA over 21 1/3 innings with Oklahoma City. He leads the RedHawks with four saves.
Madrigal must be getting awfully familiar with I-35. Tell the staff at the Taco Bueno off exit 66 I said hello, Warner.

I'm going to be as forth-coming and straightminded as possible; Chris Davis needs to be optioned to Triple-A.
I know his defense is stellar, he's a hard worker, and a great young man, but his strikeouts look so bad and are so predictable in key situations with runners on base that the Rangers cannot continue overlooking it.
I mean no ill towards him, I think business is business and we have to have a firstbaseman that can hit .250 and not strike out when it's time to move the runner over.

Fair enough concerta501. Who exactly do you suggest they plug into 1st while Davis is brushing up in the minors. In my opinion, he is not hurting the team badly right now and his defense is above stellar. So, a little OJT never hurt anyone....well, except David Clyde. I will say this though. He is bringing back memories of Dave Hostetler. But look on the bright side. After Hostetler fizzled out, up came Pete O'Brien and he was a pretty good player. If the same happens to Davis? Smoak is rising. Depth in the minors is great. But for now, patience should be in play. That is, unless you have a better suggestion for your .250 hitting first baseman that might not be as good on defense.
