The state of Derrick Turnbow
Derrick Turnbow said his outdate is Thursday. It was originally March 31 but was moved back to April 2.
He has a sore right knee but is planning to pitch today.
He realizes his command and mechanics have been erratic.
He realizes there is a good chance he might not make the team. A very good chance really.
He said he is open to starting the season at Triple A Oklahoma to continue working on stuff but wants to talk to his agent first before making a decision.
The Rangers love his stuff. His secondary pitches - especially the slider - are the best of any right-handed pitcher in camp. He just needs better command of his fastball.
"There is a big difference between command and control. I can throw the ball over the plate. That's control. Command is throwing it on the corners of the plate."
Former Rangers manager Johnny Oates.
