From the Sonora Desert...Day 1

1. Can Frank Francisco hold off C.J. Wilson in the closer's role?
Early line: The Rangers go with Francisco but Wilson vows to make him work hard for the job.

2. Who follows Kevin Millwood and Vicente Padilla in the rotation?
Early line: Scott Feldman, Matt Harrison and Brandon McCarthy.

Donnelly.jpg3. Does either Derrick Turnbow or Brendan Donnelly (right) have anything left?
Early line: They both make the team because the Rangers want to see for sure what they have.

4. Does Neftali Feliz or Derek Holland have a chance to make the team?
Early line: They shouldn't but at least one of them - maybe both - will create an early feeding frenzy.

5. Who will be this year's Scott Feldman, a guy who comes from the back of the pack to play a big role on the team.
Early line: Doug Mathis might be worth watching this spring.

6. Who replaces Jamey Wright as the long man, innings eater in the bullpen.
Early line: Josh Rupe or Luis Mendoza.

7. What's in store for Thomas Diamond after a two-year climb from Tommy John surgery?
Early line: Still needs a better breaking ball to be a Major League starter. Either the Rangers bullpen or the Triple A rotation.

8. Where does Jason Jennings begin the season?
Early line: Double A Frisco.

9. Where does Warner Madrigal fit in?
Early line: With Donnelly and Turnbow here, Madrigal might start the season at Triple A Oklahoma while the Rangers see what they can get from the two veterans.

10. Can Brandon McCarthy make people forget John Danks?
Early line: This is definitely his last stand. It's now or never.

11. Sleeper for the Rangers bullpen?
Early line: Joe Torres. He's left-handed. He had some control issues in Double A last year but the line is interesting. He pitched 501/3 innings, allowed 29 hits, 31 walks and struck out 58.

12. Can Kevin Millwood and Vicente Padilla each win 15 games?

Early line: Talk among yourselves.

The Sullivan - dwi"dr ego"d combo is simply un-stoppable.

I am going to go out on a limb and qualify this. "IF" Millwood and Padilla stay healthy i believe they can win 15 each. Millwood is in the best shape of his life and has something to prove. Padilla is a bulldog. The reality of it is that if we are out of it that both probably get dealt at ASB and win those games to equal 15 as a part of other franchises. Both have to get off to good starts to do it though.
