Padilla's start in doubt

Pitcher Vicente Padilla's start on Friday may be in doubt because of some more discomfort in his neck. He was not able to throw his bullpen session on Tuesday but will try again Wednesday. Dustin Nippert would start if Padilla can't go.

Let Blalock walk and re-sign Milton Bradley. The bottom line is Bradley plays hurt and well Blalock doesn't. I am so freaking angry over the fact that Davis got moved to third to make room for Blalock. The only thing that would make me happy would be for us to trade Blalock before August 31, 2008. It would be nice for Cruz to become our everyday right fielder and take that next step, but hey, we need some freaking pitching folks. We have a good offense and the hitters have adapted to Washingtons working the pitcher. I personally would like to see Daniels canned, and Washington kept. Washington in my opinion earned another year. Daniels well traded away all of our pitching prospects and the only thing keeping him in a job is Hamilton. Does anyone on here believe if Hamilton is hitting .230 that Daniels would not have already been fired?

Actually, Hank has played the field *more* than Bradley this season. If Milton were able to play the field then Hank could DH and dgod wouldn't be oh so mad about Davis moving to third. For someone who cries and whines as much as you do about the Rangers not keeping players long term you don't show much loyalty to the guys who want to be here. The reality of the situation is that Hank has to play if he's going to have any trade value and it's not like Davis is being sent down. He's still right there in the line up every night.

"I personally would like to see Daniels canned," For now you would. Who knows what the next 2 hours will bring as you seem to change your tune with the breeze - "and Washington kept" being a prime example. What about the great Trey Hillman?

"Daniels well traded away all of our pitching prospects" - Yes, the Rangers have zero pitching prospects. None at all. Welcome to dgod's alternate reality.

"Does anyone on here believe if Hamilton is hitting .230 that Daniels would not have already been fired?" - What a pointless and utterly stupid question. How does this scenario enter into any logical discourse? Just another example of your loosening grip on reality.

Please explain what is so terrible about Hank playing first and Davis third? What long term damage is being done? Hell, what short term damage, for that matter? There must be some reason it's making you "so freaking angry." It couldn't possibly be because your just a miserable, angry person could it? Nah, no chance. I eagerly await a coherent, reality based answer while not holding by breath.

Your're quite wrong, hefe, about the Blalock - Davis position switch causing no damage. I detect considerable damage to the dog's central nervous system, a condition which prabably wasn't helped by Millwood's pitching performance tonight. Two more walks for Milton. They should definitely sign him next year and appoint him as plate discipline coach. He is just so good at recognising those breaking pitches that dive out of the strike zone!

Hey fellows...back off of poor D'god. Don't you realize he's just had a revelation? Ron Washington has earned another year! After harping on it since March that Ron Washington is a loser...and repeating it so often...as late as yesterday (They'll go 71 and 91 like I predicted and Washington will get fired) now he thinks Washington has earned another year. Which way will the bipolar winds be blowing tomorrow?

Of course Ron Washington has earned another year!

Bradley needs to be resigned. I've worried about his temper but he sure knows the strike zone. I'm not sure how you're getting info on the games Anthony but I was watching Tom Grieve the other night doing the game and he showed several examples of Milton knowing the strike zone better than the home plate ump.

Hank is one of the good guys. I just can predict if he'll be back next year or not but any guy who wants to get on the field so badly wile he's hurt is called a "gamer." Ya gotta like him. He's adjusting to the new position and Davis is sure playing his heart out at 3rd..

As usual D'god, even when you're right is pure bull.

JD has traded away all our pitching propects? Wow. Don't tell that to Feliz, Beavan, Holland, Main, Kiker or any of their buddies.

Hey Diamond, they have to be named the top pitching prospects before we trade them to another team. And who was our top pitching prospect before the Hamilton deal? Well Volquez i do believe. Danks the year before. I don't know about you but i am tired of seeing our top pitching prospects traded. Danks was a first round pick and highly touted. Don't know where Volquez was drafted but the bottom line is we have to stop trading our young pitchers. At this point, it appears we have enough young positional players maybe just maybe a guy like Salty who evidently doesn't fit on this team could be dealt for some other teams top pitching prospect. Doubtlful though you just don't see other teams giving away their pitching the way we do. Sure the Haren deals and the Santana deals those are for proven stud pitchers. DVD, DVD was the cry a few years back, all are gone except the diamond who really isn't a diamond after all. It just makes me sick and angry to watch Demptster, Duchsherer, Davis, Volquez, and Danks all former pitching prospects who got traded or released. Heck even the Park is rehabilitiated in LA. Hey i am all for Blalock getting some trade value so we can trade him between now and the 31st of this year. Which leads to this question, if we don't trade him do we pick up that $4 million dollar option? I say no, use that on Bradley whom i believe is the heart and soul of this team, to let him walk would be crazy even if he is the permanent DH. Heck i would prefer to see Bradley at first over Blalock.

Hefe, i like Ron i want that extension for him. What i said was he probably is going to get fired if this team finishes at 71-91. However, it is the pitchings fault, not his and that falls on Daniels who in his brief time has made two deals that worked out. When he trades veteran players that others want, the Tex and Gagne deals only, both were shrewd. Why didn't he get that type of deal for Soriano, wait maybe he did, Gallarraga is lights out, but wait for the Tigers. Could he have helped us. I don't believe we should get rid of any pitcher, I would have liked to have seen Tejada and him both get a chance. I want Nippert, Feldman, Harrison and any other young pitcher, possibly Rupe to get some starts to find some starters. I said it before and say it again, to depend on Millwood and Padilla for 35 wins was fools gold. I like Padilla and Millwood both personally but, it would not hurt me to see Millwood gone. Looks like Texas has both on the block and i may get my wish. Millwood is way overpaid for what he does and Padilla well just is too inconsistent even though he is our ace....

“they have to be named the top pitching prospects before we trade them to another team” Eric Hurley was our top pitching prospect going into this season and Feliz will be next season, but that’s not even what you said is it? You said “Daniels well traded away all of our pitching prospects” Nice back-peddle.

“Heck i would prefer to see Bradley at first over Blalock” – He’s not healthy enough to finish the games he starts at DH. How do you think it’s going to impact him if you make him play defense? You really consider every angle, don’t you?

“What i said was he probably is going to get fired if this team finishes at 71-91.” – Yeah, except it’s not your soft headed pre season prediction that I’m referencing when I talk about how often and quickly you change your mind. It’s your bleating for a year and a half that he should be fired and we should’ve hire Trey Hillman in the first place and now you’re saying that he needs to be extended. Nice back-peddle.

“it just makes me sick and angry to watch Demptster, Duchsherer, Davis, Volquez, and Danks” – Sick and angry? I though Chris Davis playing third was making you angry. Man, you’re one sick, angry puppy.

“I don't believe we should get rid of any pitcher” – Again, with the inability to accept the reality of a 40 man roster?

“depend on Millwood and Padilla for 35 wins was fools gold” – I don’t recall anyone depending on that. TR wrote that that’s what it would take for the Rangers to win the division and most reasonable people didn’t expect that. The efficacy of that actually happening was left up to the reader. If you can find an example of anyone saying that this would happen, I’m all ears. So far as I know it wasn’t a prediction, but it has become one of your favorite repetitious gems.

Josh Rupe’s arm hasn’t held up to starter’s innings since ’05 when he threw less than 170. The almost 75 he’s got this year are the most he’s managed since due to injuries. How about we leave him in a role where he’s found some success instead of trying to make his arm fall off, Jr. GM aka Head of Talent Development. Speaking of that, man, the move over to third is just killing young Chris Davis. He’s only putting up a .950 OPS.

So, the Teixeira deal was a good trade now? One wouldn't be able to tell with all the belly aching you've done since it went down. And, for the record there was a very good prospect that came back this way in the Kenny Lofton trade.

D'god you lie like a rug! You've had it in for our your words now, "squinty eyed" manager so maliciously that I thought that maybe you had a tinge of not liking black people. That would be consistent with your feelings about people from south of the Rio Grande...(what did you call them?) and people who were not native born Texans.

With your record for veracity I'm surprised defense attorneys don't tear you up on the witness stand...that is if indeed you are a cop. I'd believe you were a cop wannabe...I'd hate to think you ever came through one of my classes...surely I would have flunked you for demeanor alone!

I watch just about all of the Ranger games on mlb.com, fred. I usually get to see Josh and Tom when the Rangers play at home, but it's usually the feed from the "enemy" TV station when they play away. So i didn't see the particular Tom Grieve illustrations you refered to, but even the Royals broadcasters were impressed with Milton's plate disclipline. Ron W is given much of the credit for the increasing number of deep at-bats that Ranger hitters are having, but I wonder if Milton is having a big influence as well. It's the sort of influence you would expect from a club house leader.

Tom was saying earlier that Milton is a great guy for the younger players to try an emulate with regard to his approach and getting his pitch to hit. Boggs and Saltalamacchia are 2 young ones that already see a lot of pitches.

PLEASE d(GOD) do all of the Ranger fans a favor and go to the Yankee site. You would so fit in. When I read your comments I always have the trash basket close because it make me want to puke. Like the politicans CHANGE CHANGE
CHANGE. You have rode the old horse about pitching we have traded that she is down on her knees. I wished I had saved all of your comments on Washington from the first part of the season. What is this about liking Millwood and Padilla? I would never says the things you do about someone I liked. Please tell me again why we should have Trey as our manager?
I could go on but it is time to get a cold one and get ready for the game. I watch them all regardless of the score.
It is the game that matters and how much you like the players. It is my team and I will be a Ranger fan regardless.

Crybabies all. Know Fredussr, flunking someone for demeanor isn't really fair, now is it? Nor is it professional, professor!!!!Hey Hefe, what will you do when i no longer post here? Who will you gripe about? I did change my mind on the squinty eyed Ron. I WAS WRONG about him. I am not wrong about us needing pitching. What does it profit a man to score 50 thousand runs and break all of the offensive records if we don't have at least one pitcher that can hold a lead? That one was for you rhoden. It is looking more and more like this team won't win another five games. IF they finish 71-91 that will be two years in a row that i have picked the won loss record. Will i win a toaster or a microwave? Is this team really gonna let Bradley walk after the influence that he has had this year. I believe he is the team leader.

You know if you could have said that about any of your rants about 3 months ago a bunch of us could have saved a lot of time. Not too hard is it? Simple, I was wrong. Gosh, some guys you've just got to beat over the head.

And yes it is fair to flunk a Criminal Justice student for extreme behavior. I've done it. Too much responsibility on the prof when he gets turned out on the street with a badge and a gun. Maybe I was wrong too....but I don't think so. And now you see why you t me off so much.

"Hey Hefe, what will you do when i no longer post here? Who will you gripe about?" - More of the same. Please, don't ever refute anything I've said, furthering a rational dialogue. Just keep spewing your screed.

With regard to Bradley, I'd be fine if they just offered him arbitration. If he accepts, great, if not, we get draft picks. He may be in pursuit of a 3+ year deal and I, for one don’t want to give that type of deal to a player with Milton’s injury history. The man’s talent is undeniable and I agree that he’s a good clubhouse guy, but I feel like anything beyond a 2 year deal is a mistake, especially with a player like Max Ramirez ready to take over at DH in the near future.
