That's an afternoon game. I may come down with a myserious case of food poisoning after lunch that day.

Yeah, too bad that's not a home game. I'd probably develop an eye problem that morning. You know - couldn't see myself going in to work that day.

Whoa Nellie! I thought we weren't rushing our players? Thought they needed a full season in AAA or AA? What the sam hell is going on? Why not Hairison? Are we competing this year? Where is Frostad? Where is Davis? Arias? I say move Young to third and bring up Arias until Andrus is ready?

I hope they're not rushing Hurley, but we'll see... As to why now, D'god I heard a rumour that Ron W reads your every comment here, and can often be heard muttering, "Gotta find out what degod thinks, degodthinks, degodthinks..."

Now that was funny!!!!

This is good news. Hurley still has some things to iron out, but I think they're things he should be able to work on while making that final adjustment to the majors. I expect there will be some bumps in the early going, but I think Hurley's ready for this step.

Thursday is gonna be a must-see game, that's for sure.

Now that RW is taking all the smart advice maybe d(GOD) can get on the Tigers blog and help them. As I remember
d(GOD) said they were going to win it all. As I have found out all things change. Regardless of what the Rangers do
d(GOD) will kick dirt on it. Of coure most of the time he is looking in the rear view mirrow. HA HA HA

I am fine with Hurley coming up now. He will have some rough outings, but Nolan, JD and Ron need to leave him up the rest of the year and let him figure it out. Do not send him back down no matter what. All young starters have to adjust and Hurley should not go down.

22 different pitchers, 10 different starters. In Viet Nam we had a word for a screwed up situation like tbut discretion being the better part of wisdom and age keeps me from saying it...it might offend

I had planned to go to this game until gas prices hit their all-time high. *sigh* Boo. But, I'm already off that day, so at least I won't miss his debut entirely. I just won't get to see it in person.

Let's face it folks---put whoever is productive out there and see if we can win the games. That's the bottom line anyway.
Part of the Rangers' "mighty master plan" of the past decade hasn't borne riches, obviously.

Let's just go with folks who are producing. If it's Hurley--Great! If it's Robinson Tejeda reprising his early 2007 mastery of the Bosox with a 2-hitter, then great, let him pitch. Frankly, I'm tired of "master plans"--80% of which don't pan out anyway. So let's go with whoever does the job, has the poise, matures, learns and adjusts.

For if bloggers say, "NO! We can't possibly rush Eric Hurley--my response would be, isn't Blake Beavan, and a score of others waiting to pick up the mantle and run with it? Master plans on paper are just to make management feel good. The team's winning should rightly be the main focus of any team, because most prospects don't work out anyway. I want the Major League team to win and prosper--I really don't care if Frisco or OKC wins night after night. I want the best to be on the Major League team to try to win games for the Texas Rangers. Simply keeping guys with talent at the lower levels doesn't make much since if a team is trying and commmitted to winning.

If Hurley pitches well, then keep him. If he doesn't succeed, then that is what the minor leagues are for--let someone else come and take his spot who can run, pitch or hit.

Rumor has it.......Hurley is our top pitching prospect. It just can't be because he is still with this organiztion. Haven't our last two year top pitching prospects been traded? And guys you are now playing my game. Keep the shots coming, i thrive on them. P.S. their are still 100 games left this season and the Tigers still have a chance however it becomes harder every day. If Ron were listening to me, i would #1 tell him to file an assault case on Ponson, move Young to second and Kinsler to third. I would also advise him to keep Bradley at DH and play Salt at first base. But Wash doth not listen. Hey Wash has saved his job and evidently is a pretty good guy. The manager is only as good as his pitching staff and players. The bottom line is this team is improved and that is all we can hope for. My only concern is that they will over valuate this team and trade some of our young players as we have done in the past. Trade Cat all you want and even some Byrd, but no one else. 2010 is looking good if they stick with what we are doing now.

Thank someone that he is not listening to you d(GOD). Thats what he needs is something to disrupt the team. Guess he needs to get a lawyer and sue. If going by your thinking then Kansas City needs to fire their manager. I am going to look for a lot more than improving, I'm looking for them to give us more great gmes like tonight. Nolan is watching the games from the stands and he is having more input than some people realize. He is going to change the mind set of our guys or they are not going to be here. I really like now that Eddy is the 8th inning guy. Benoit need to get his stuff togeather or he needs to go. Eddy comes in and throws strikes not coming in trying to out think the batter.
Bingo is right who ever is producing gets to play.
Lets play some more baseball!

I have been waiting for this to happen with the Rangers injuries in the starting rotation. I have been fortunate to see Eric Hurley pitch when he was at Frisco AA. he was dominant when I saw him stirking out like 9 in a complete game. I hope they have the patients to let him take so lumps so he will know what to work on after the season to improve. But I am behnd the move and I hope that he has some early success and then finally made the Rangers will have developed an ace. Which he has the stuff to be.

I'm glad to see they are giving Hurley a shot. I disagree with the "keep'em here even if they struggle" mentality. No pitcher should be guaranteed a spot just because he has good potential. If he struggles, let's say 3 consecutive bad starts, then let him work things out in the minors. It seemed to have worked with Volquez. I know I'm an optimist, but as long as we have a shot at the division or wild card, then we should be playing to win now, as long as we don't jeopardize the future. Winning should be the goal every season, even if we are rebuilding.
