Blalock will be awhile
Hank Blalock is back with the Rangers but he's not going to be back with them anytime soon. He is right hand is still swollen and sore from what happened this weekend at Oklahoma. No word yet but the guess is at least a couple of weeks and definitely not before the break.
By the way, Milton Bradley and Josh Hamilton are not in the lineup. More on the website

Chris Davis will be in Houston tonight according to Jamey Newberg.

Whoa Nellie, as Mark Cuban would say. Just a month ago everyone was adamant that Davis didn't need to be rushed? Needed a full season at AAA, maybe next year, now he is coming up? This is what is comical and outlandish to me, not that i am against it, just like to point out what is said and then immediately disregarded within less than a month. Hey TR, doesn't it frustrate you to have to say one thing then watch as they do another? Once Davis comes up and performs, which i have no doubt that he will, then what other position will be the void, third base? Can Ramirez play third? The way Washington was talking about Ramirez last night you would have thought Johnny Bench called and caught that game. Which leads me to this, i don't ever remember him talking about Laird or Saltalamacchia like that? The knock reportedly on Ramirez is that he can hit, but not much of a catcher. So Washingtons diatribe last night was kinda unusual....So if Maximillian is getting that after one game and Salt never gets it, who is going to catch more, Ramirez or Salty???????

Blalock is done here unless he wants to play third. I like Blalock, but i believe he swings too often for the home run. If he comes back this year, it will be as DH or third baseman. Davis is the future at first and i think the Rangers have found out that these young guys can play. It is exciting to me to watch these young players. The cinco have been clamoring for this for awhile, now we are getting it and this team shows promise. At this point, or near the all-star break, i would be looking to 2009 or 2010 as the year to go for broke. I would trade Padilla, Millwood, Cat, Laird and Blalock, for pitching prospects, but no one else. Hurley, Mathis, Mendoza, Feldman, Gabbard, Harrison, Diamond and any other young pitcher would be my starters. I love what Padilla is doing, but can he do it for the next two years? Millwood is too inconsistent for me, doesn't work at his craft and is making too much money for what he gives us. Is Emerson Frostad next????

The Rangers have a glut of talent, lets make sure we keep that glut and get rid of the above listed players. Will we really miss Cat, Laird, Blalock, Millwood?

Washington's diatribe?? I thought he was praising Ramirez, d'god. A diatribe is bitter or violent criticism or attack. Now your posts....

I just meant to draw a compairison. I was just trying to say that you have never heard him praise Salty like that. On and on he went about Ramirez. Just kind of ironic to me that #1 they let Salty decide he wants to play catcher then someone else plays one game and they are Johnny Bench. Kinda seems like maybe Washington has an agenda and doesn't think Salt is the answer behind the plate. I would not be totally shocked to see Salty dealt this year as part of a large package and Laird kept. Especially after Washingtons public profession that Ramirez is god behind the dish........
