Big Game Tonight

Hard to imagine a game on May 21 being crucial but the Rangers need a win tonight. They have been playing very well of late but they need to stop this losing streak before it unravels everything they've accomplished. They have their two most experienced pitchers going, Sidney Ponson tonight and Vicente Padilla tomorrow. Need to get that momentum back before they go to Cleveland and face some tough starting pitching.

They also need to get back to working the opposing pitcher. That's been the common denominator over the past three games. Maybe they hit too many home runs versus the Astros but their offense has been absent in the first six innings over the past three games and they have been getting it going too late... especially Sunday and Tuesday.

I thought that is what Ron Washington was supposed to have brought to the table. Working the count, pitching and defense. I like Ron, the Rangers have been playing well, not including last night. However, i still believe that Washington is what he is a .434 winning percentage man....That isn't too bad with this group, but if he doesn't break .500 this year he is going to get canned. Remember Nostradamus isn't wrong. Ha ha. Can we trade Diamond for another 5 tool player??????? Can Laird please catch full time? Last night was a prime example of what someone said the other day about Salty not being ready to catch in the big leagues. His throwing error after we got the force at home was just not Laird like. WE NEED DEFENSE FROM THE CATCHER POSITION. I still don't understand why they just don't tell Salt hey Laird is better than you, we want to take the pressure off of you, so play first base. It is what is best for him and this team. Bingo, where are you i know you agree. LAIRD ISN"T the problem on this team, he is an asset. More in a few.......

Laird is 28. Salt is 23. I really do not believe that Salt is ever going to even be close to what Laird is now. IT is ridiculous that he is rotting on the bench playing once a week. Play him at first or DH, i believe hitting is supposed to be his strength???????

The Laird Salty saga, just illustrates the facts that the Rangers cannot commit to one strategy. If we are truly rebuilding, then Salty is the top prospect and should play. Laird should be dealt. What is it that we are doing? What is the strategy? Are we playing for this year or are we playing for the future. IF we are playing for the future, then why is Cat still on this team? Laird isn't that old, but at a future 29 is he the catcher of the future in 5 years? No. I believe Laird can't wait to get out of Dodge and we will hear all of the details when he goes. Laird is a good player and it is wrong what they are doing to him. Pick a strategy and a player and go for it. Which is it?

It really hurts for me to say this, D'god, but I agree with you on this one. I must be mellowing in my old age...

PS On Laird/Salty, that is, NOT about Ron Washington.

Hank is going to come back and play 1st base so Salty is not going to play there. I think Salty is on the way back to AAA. So some people like RW, funny what winning does.
