McCarthy hurting

Brandon McCarthy was shut down after one inning of pitching against the Brewers with more problems in his elbow/forearm area. The Rangers will know more later but it's not looking good as far as McCarthy being ready for the season. More on the website.

with mccarthy looking like he should be out for a while should the rangers start kicking the tires on kyle lohse?

I was thinking th same thing about Lohse. But that would probably be something I'd only do if McCarthy winds up having surgery or something, and we're not quite there yet.

More likely, this just means that Luis Mendoza and AJ Murray will be pushed into the rotation once the need for the 5th starter arrives.

In any case, this is extremely bad news for the Rangers.

We have a lot of guys in camp and, since Lohse is still unsigned I think that says something.

I'd rather see Mendoza get the innings.

Another JD trade flop.

I'm really getting to the point that I have NO faith in Jon Daniels when it comes to making decisions that are suppose to be in the best interest of this team.

Also, I'm really disappointed that the Rangers marketing people left out Eric Hurley the teams top pitching prospect in that promo video. Unbelievable that the marketing people would leave out the teams top pitching prospect when they mention prospects.

Poor judgement on management and completely irresponsible to not recognize the teams top pitching prospect.

Didn't I read somewhere that team president Nolan Ryan was giving McCarthy advice on throwing his curve ball with more snap? Could it be that this was the cause of the flare up? We'll never hear that but I was just wondering out loud.
Someone asked JD if he would still make the trade with the White Sox involving McCarthy and John Danks and he said he would, of course he would say that, that could be his only response, he'll never admit it was a bad trade. Even a mediocre John Danks is looking good right now, but I think Danks will be a solid pitcher for a long time. Maybe we can sign in five years. On the other hand, maybe we'll be so deep with pitching ourselves that we won't need to sign him.

it looks like Ben Broussard might make a good first baseman at Frisco, I think AAA and the majors might be a bit too hard...
