Choo to have surgery on left ankle; Choice out for the year

Shin-Soo Choo will have surgery on his left ankle to repair torn cartilage Tuesday. He will need 6-8 weeks of recovery. This is the ankle that has been an issue since April. The Rangers have also confirmed that Michael Choice will be out for the remainder of the season with a severe strained left hamstring. Jake Smolinski has been activated off the disabled list

Smolinski is making a heck of a case for Michael Choice to get his weight under control this off season.

A tip of the hat to Lyonis Martin from a past critic. He seems to be thriving under new mgr Bogar, which may bode well for both of them. A winter of batting cage practice against live left hander pitching couldn’t hurt.

Even Andrus seems to be trying to swing the bat better … yes, he better.

Why did Washington resign?

Good question … always been an odd duck

Actually, my guess is that it may have had something to do with not being able to manage Japanese superstar pitchers the way he felt they should be able to be managed. … (does that make any sense)

Wash had “personal issues” to deal with…and it wasn’t drugs. Sounds like maybe some marital stuff or possibly alcohol or gambling…something that he needed some time to fix. More power to him if he felt he had to walk away from the game we know he loves to take care of these more important issues. There is macho and then there is smart. I believe Wash went SMART.

I recommend keeping the current coaching staff for 2015. Bogar seems to be better with managing the lineup than Washington.

I think Wash wants to work for Ryan. We will see him in Astros uniform next year

maybe at the ranch………….NO MORE baseball
