Rangers update: Beltre, Andrus, Chirinos
Shortstop Elvis Andrus was given another day off on Tuesday. But manager Tim Bogar said Andrus will be in the lineup either at DH or shortstop for most of the rest of the season. Guilder Rodriguez was at second base in his Major League debut and Luis Sardinas was at shortstop.
Robinson Chirinos had an MRI on his sore neck on Monday. The results were clean and he is hoping to be back in the lineup in the next day or two.
Outfieldfer Engel Beltre, who missed all season with a broken bone in his right leg, has developed a stress fracture in his left leg. he will undergo surgery on Wednesday.
Miles Mikolas, sidelined with right shoulder fatigue, is playing catch but still not off a mound. He is hoping to get there later this week.
The Rangers have brought in Double A pitching gems Jerad Eickhoff, Alec Asher, Alex Gonzalez and Luke Jackson into Arlington this week to observe and work out.
Outfielder Jim Adduci is still recovering from a concussion and is not ready to play.
Jake Smolinski is starting to take batting practice but can only jog. He remains sidelined with a fractured bone in his left foot.
