MLB changes controversial scoring decision

David Ortiz has been given a single by Major League Baseball on the controversial scoring decision in Yu Darvish’s last start on Friday. It was originally ruled an error on right-fielder Alex Rios. The change is moot because Ortiz broke up the no-hit bid in the ninth inning anyway, making it easier for MLB to change the call, even if official scorer Steve Weller made the right decision.

He did.

What a bunch of crap. Why don’t they go ahead and put a time limit on running the bases after a homerun.

That was Rios’ ball all the way. He even said so himself. E-9 is the right call.

If I’ve got the details correct, had that ball been caught, Ortiz would never have come up in the 9th (with two outs already) to break up the no no a second time.

Did this come from New York or Washington, DC? “We know you made a decision, but we think ours is better.”
