Moreland not in lineup; Berkman to DH

Jim Adduci will make his first career start at first base, which squeezes Mitch Moreland out of the lineup Sunday against the A’s. Moreland went 0-for-3 with a walk and three strikeouts Saturday, and he’s 0-for-21 with 14 punchouts in his last nine games. Adduci has started four games since he was called up, three in left field and one as the designated hitter.

Berkman will start as the designated hitter with right-handed pitcher Jarrod Parker on the mound for the A’s. The switch hitter has been used exclusively from the left side due to a left hip injury he suffered in July. This will be his third start since he was activated off the disabled list on Sept. 1. Berkman flied out to center in the ninth Saturday during his only pinch hit appearance  this month.
