Saturday afternoon…Ogando, Tepesch, Feliz

Alexi Ogando will not start Monday. He had an injection in his right shoulder this morning. The Rangers hope the right-hander will miss just one start with the injury. He’s been on the disabled list twice already this season.

Matt Garza will now pitch Monday on normal rest due to Thursday’s off day. Tuesday’s starter has not been announced, but Rangers manager Ron Washington said there are 3-4 possible candidates. Ross Wolf and Josh Lindblom are possible options.

Nick Tepesch threw a 25-pitch bullpen session Friday. He will have another session Monday.

Neftali Feliz will continue his rehab assignment Saturday with Triple-A Round Rock. He’s scheduled to pitch an inning.

Tepesch is one of our longterm pitching answers with good mechanics. It was no mistake that Grimm was made available in trade, but not Tepesch.

Nathan has great #’S but numbers lie. He cannot be trusted to close out close games. He walks too many batters and can’t blow people away with the fastball. We better find a closer if we want to do some damage. Remember you heard it here first! Nathan’s role must change.

Hard to imagine a veteran closer whose been as effective as Nathan has losing his job. Near impossible actually. He’d have to really implode for an extended period.

This year, Nathan’s the man. Next year, I could see Scheppers closing out games.

If Soria finishes strong Nathan could get dealt. Feliz should be full strength next season and surely the Ogando as a starter experiment is over.
