Friday afternoon…Ogando, Berkman, Feliz

Alexi Ogando had a CT scan on his right shoulder Wednesday that revealed inflammation around a nerve in his shoulder. He received medication and has felt better over the last 24 hours, but the right-hander will likely be scratched from Monday’s start against the Astros. The club is waiting on a second opinion, but Ogando will likely receive an injection in his shoulder this weekend.

Ross Wolf is a possible spot start candidate out of the bullpen. Josh Lindblom is another option in Triple-A Round Rock.

Lance Berkman wasn’t activated by the Rangers Friday following four rehab games. He will meet with the team to discuss his possible role with the club when he returns. Daniels and Berkman said there have been discussions to activate the designated hitter on Sept. 1 when the rosters expand, but nothing has been set at the moment.

Neftali Feliz’s bullpen session went well Thursday. The Rangers plan to get him back on the mound to continue his medical rehabilitation assignment.

If they can’t correct his mechanics, they should put him back in the pen before he destroys his arm. The Yankees were smart enough to see this with their starter experiment, Joba Chamberlain.
Of course, there’s a danger he’d be overworked as a reliever as well. Poor mechanics are still poor mechanics, and the results to the arm will still be the same…it’s just in delay mode out of the pen.

Agree, agree, agree.

І tackle such info much.
