Matt Harrison out for the year

Rangers manager Jon Daniels said Matt Harrison has been shut down and doesn’t expect the left-hander to throw another pitch this season. There’s nothing wrong structurally with his back, but it wasn’t as strong as expected. He overcompensated with his delivery, which led to elbow issues. He left Friday’s rehab start with Triple-A Round Rock due to numbness in his throwing hand.

Colby Lewis will have hip surgery next week in New York. Daniels is hopeful to get Neftali Feliz and Nick Tepesch back around September. Feliz is dealing with triceps tendonitis. He will throw a bullpen Wednesday. Daniels said it will delay his return, but it’s nothing more than Spring Training type injury.

Engel Beltre has been optioned to Triple-A Round Rock to make room for Adam Rosales.
