Rangers mull move with Nathan

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reported that the Rangers are considering the possibility of trading closer Joe Nathan. A Major League source confirmed the report saying that it has been talked about a little. The source said, “doubt it happens” but the Rangers will consider it if somebody “really values” him.

The Rangers, according to a source, are checking out every bat with a pulse trying to upgrade their offense. Nathan is signed through this season with an option for 2014. He remains one of the premier closers in the game at age 38.

It’s the season of rumors but this is something the Rangers have tossed about. They are looking at everything.

HOW MANY TIMES WILL RANGERS BE SHUTOUT BEFORE THEY BRING UP MANNY AND TRADE FOR SOME POWER AND RUNS. IT’S ALMOST TO LATE NOW!!!!

Twins will take him back!

Nathan is good no doubt, but I want my closer throwing heat when he comes out of the bullpen. I would like to see either Scheppers, Feliz or Ogando in this role. If you can get a bat for Nathan, then you do it. What complicates it for the Rangers, is that any team that would need Nathan for pennant race, isn’t likely to give up one of their bats to get him. For example, Detroit would like to have him, but they aren’t going to give us Hunter for him. So it is a catch-22 situation.

The Rangers playoff hopes are almost over, and in fact, may be over, Time to start thinking about next season. The only hope is to win the Division. Wild card is not a possiblity. That means the Rangers would need to win at least 40 of the remaining 57 games. A miracle would have to take place for that happen. That is my opinion.
