White Sox scouting Rangers on Friday

The White Sox have two scouts at the Rangers game with the Indians on Friday. The Rangers are talking to the White Sox about outfielder Alex Rios. The White Sox have also been scouting the Rangers farm system.

The White Sox are looking for young prospects who are ready to step in at the Major League level. Engel Beltre is starting in left field for the Rangers on Friday. Martin Perez is pitching for the Rangers, not that they would give him up in a trade for Rios.

The Phillies and the Rockies also have scouts here. Both teams remain on the periphery of the playoff race in the National League. The Rockies have Michael Cuddyer, who is signed through next season at $10.5 million. He is 34 and hitting .331 with 16 home runs and 57 RBI. He is .304 on the road.

The problem with our team is that we do not have a true #3 or # 4 hitter. Beltre is the best overall player on this team, and I would hit him 3rd and Cruz #4. The lack of timely/clutch hitting is killing this team. It seems that the players are carrying an attitude that they are going to be in the playoffs. There does not seem to be a sense of urgency from the manager or the players. Someone needs to let them know that this is a competition and you have to EARN your way in. Best pitching staff in team history. I say lets recognize what we are, this isn’t a team that is going to be able to sit around and wait for the 3-run homer. They have to play small ball, bunt, hit and run, sacrifice, manufacture runs. Washington doesn’t seem to be that type of manager. We aren’t going to the playoffs folks if someone doesn’t light a fire under someone’s butts…
