One thought on Garza: Rangers would like second player
If the Rangers do trade for Garza, they would likely try to get a second player in the deal who would be with the organization beyond this year. Garza is a free agent after the season and the Rangers won’t get compensation if he signs with another team.
The Rangers got a second player in the trade the last two times they made a deal for a “rental” player.
In 2006 they traded four players to the Brewers for Carlos Lee and also got Nelson Cruz in the trade.
In 2010 they received pitcher Mark Lowe along with Cliff Lee from the Mariners.
Jon Daniels likes to get that second player in a deal like the one the Rangers are talking about with the Cubs.
