Ortiz, Chirinos called up, Baker on DL; McGuiness sent down

The Rangers have called up pitcher Joseph Ortiz and catcher Robinson Chirinos from Triple A Round Rock. Jeff Baker has been placed on the disabled list and first baseman Chris McGuiness has been optioned to Triple A Round Rock. Lance Berkman is playing first base on Tuesday. Baker has a sprained right thumb. The Rangers expect Mitch Moreland to be activated on Friday off the disabled list.

What’s the point of sending down McGuiness and bringing up a 3rd catcher? That leaves Berkman as the sole 1B until Moreland returns, correct?

Good move. McGiuness seemed overmatched at bat – not enough bat speed. Chirinos may actually have a future here; seems to bo most things well, and stays in good physical shape.

Do we Really need to anymore of Joe Ortiz right now ? This is not good if he is the best option our farm has for us,
Hurry back Soria and Feliz.

T.R…..With all of the lack of offense lately, I noticed that Manny Rameirez is leaving Taiwan without a contract. I think that it would be a good risk for the Rangers to give him a shot, all depending on what kind of contract could be worked out. We just need to jump start this team, as well as getting key players off of the DL
