Jeff Baker out with sprained right thumb

Jeff Baker sprained his right thumb Thursday during a celebratory high-five. He said his teammate, which he did not name, caught his thumb and bent it backwards.

Baker said he can’t grip a bat and will be out a few days to wait for the swelling to go down. He did not have an MRI on the thumb.

Chris McGuiness will start at first base as part of a number of lineup changes for the Rangers. Leonys Martin will start in left field as David Murphy gets the day off. Geovany Soto will start at catcher and Jurickson Profar will leadoff with Elvis Andrus batting second in the lineup.
