Rangers pick community college RHP in seventh

The Rangers took right-handed pitcher Nick Gardewine with the 220th overall selection in the seventh round.

Gardewine went to Kaskaskia Community College in Illinois. He went 9-1 with a 2.12 ERA in 13 starts this season. He had four complete games and three shutouts, including a no-hitter in his third collegiate start.

The freshman is listed at 6-foot-1 and 160 pounds, the lightest out of the five pitchers the Rangers have drafted so far.
