Borbon designated for assignment; Harrison likely to miss start
The Rangers have designated outfielder Julio Borbon. for assignment. They have ten days to trade him, release him or get him through outright waivers. The Rangers are still hoping to trade him to another Major League team.
The Rangers also appear ready to skip Matt Harrison is his next start because of his back problems. There is improvement but the Rangers want to be cautious for the long run. A final decision has NOT been made but Harrison is unlikely to start Thursday against the Mariners.
Rays manager Joe Maddon sent his lineup card from Monday night to pitcher Joe Nathan to congratulate him on his 300th save. Maddon wrote the message: “Congrats. Outstanding career. Keep it going.”
