Baker makes the team

The Rangers have told infielder Jeff Baker that he is going to make the team and be on the Opening Day roster. Baker will serve as a utility player who can fill in at first, second, third and the corner outfield spots. He is hitting .423 for the spring.

Baker deserves to be on the team, and the Rangers fortunate to have him – based on his performance this Spring. But, he does squeeze Profar toward AAA. Maybe Profar needs a little more seasoning – his future sure seems bright. … I can see an outfield next year of Murphy, Martin, Olt and Gentry. What do you think?
