Olt, Meek sent to the Minors
The Rangers have sent 12 players to the Minor Leagues. The two biggest names were Mike Olt and Evan Meek.
Olt has been struggling at the plate this spring and never made a serioous bid to make the team even though his defense was excellent at third and solid in right. The Rangers will likely keep Jeff Baker instead.
Meek seemed to be improving as the spring went on but the Rangers decided he’s not ready to be in the Opening Day bullpen.
The Rangers also sent down pitchers Jeff Beliveau, Wilmer Font, Colin Balester, Neal Cotts and Yoshinori Tateyama, catchers Juan Apodaca and Jose Felix, infielders Brandon Allen and Brandon Snyder and outfielder Engel Beltre.
Beltre was a candidate for center field but Leonys Martin, Craig Gentry and Julio Borbon have all played well this spring
