Caravan tonight…Jamey Newberg event on Monday
Tanner Scheppers is replacing Neftali Feliz at tonight’s Academy Sports caravan in Mesquite.
The event is from 6:30 to 7:30 at the Academy on Emporium Circle in Mesquite. Scheduled to appear are: Scheppers, David Murphy, Engel Beltre, former Ranger Benji Gil and Spanish radio broadcaster Eleno Ornelas.
Jamey Newberg is having a second book release party on Monday in Dallas…. Here is the poop straight from Jamey…
We will have a second book release event this Monday, January 14, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Sherlock’s Baker Street Pub & Grill in Dallas (9100 North Central Expressway, on the northeast corner of 75 and Park Lane, just across the highway from Northpark Mall).
As with last month’s event, I’ll have the 2013 Bound Edition on hand (and some 2011 and 2012’s), but no purchase is required in order to get autographs from our guests, which will include the Rangers organization’s Tom Grieve Minor League Player of the Year, Mike Olt. We expect to have another player as well, and I’ll update you on that tomorrow.
After raising over $25,000 last month for the family of Emilie Parker and the families of the other children whose lives were senselessly lost in Newtown, Connecticut on December 14th, we’ll continue the effort Monday night. Mike, a Connecticut native, wanted to be here for the last event but couldn’t make it here on such short notice. He’s being honored by the Rangers on Friday night for his Player of the Year Award, and sticking around in town long enough that he’ll be able to join us on Monday.
Ben Rogers of ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM will emcee the event once again, interviewing our guests throughout the evening.
As usual, time permitting, we’ll do a Q&A/roundtable session with Mike and others once everyone interested in getting autographs has done so. Afterwards, we’ll have a raffle and auction of baseball and other stuff to raise money for the Emilie Parker Memorial Fund. The private party will be non-smoking – definitely kid-friendly.
