Napoli update on Tuesday night
About that big meeting between Mike Napoli, his agent Brian Grieper and Rangers general manager Jon Daniels.
It did not come off on Tuesday as expected and prematurely reported. Now it’s supposed to take place on Wednesday.
At some point they are supposed to talk. It doesn’t seem like anything is imminent. Right now it appears that the Red Sox – who really want Napoli – and the Mariners have a much better chance of signing him.
The Rangers are also still talking with agent Paul Kinzer, who represents catcher Geovany Soto. The Rangers would like to reach an agreement with Soto before Friday’s tender deadline. If the two sides can’t reach an agreement, there is a strong possibility that the Rangers could non-tender Soto and make him a free agent.
So right now there is a possibility that the Rangers could be without both their starting catchers from the final two months of last season.
Maybe they will sign Crash Davis.
Or did he take that managing job in Visalia?
