Leonys Martin optioned to Round Rock, Dempster returns
Leonys Martin was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday to make room for Ryan Dempster, who returns from the restricted list.
Dempster did not travel with the Rangers for their series in Toronto last week for personal reasons and Roy Oswalt started in his place in Saturday’s 2-1 win. Martin struck out in that game while pinch-hitting for Luis Martinez in the eighth inning and walked in the eighth inning of next day’s 11-2 victory, his only two plate appearances since being called up when Dempster was placed on the restricted list last Friday.
Dempster will start for the Rangers in Monday’s series opener against the Orioles.
