Hamilton out of lineup, Martin starting in LF
Josh Hamilton was not in the Rangers starting lineup for Saturday’s game against the White Sox. Leonys Martin will start in left field and bat eighth.
Hamilton went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts and a pair of RBIs in Friday’s loss and is batting .190 with 56 strikeouts since the beginning of June. Martin will start for the first time since July 14. He is hitless in his last 16 at-bats and is batting .176 with five RBIs in 14 games since getting called up from Triple-A Round Rock June 15. Five of Martin’s six hits this season have gone for extra bases, including a pair of triples.
Entering Saturday, Hamilton had 28 home runs and 83 RBIs, tying him with Miguel Cabrera for the Major League lead.
