Lanny Bassham and the 1972 Olympic Massacre

My old editor and friend Mike Bambach dug up an old story of mine and posted it on his blog. This is a story that ran in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in 1999. It is about Lanny Bassham, a Fort Worth-area man who won a gold medal in shooting in the Olympics but also was therre in 1972 during the Munich Olympics.

He had a pretty compelling story to tell. If you are interested in Olympic history and that infamous day…. Here is a link to the blog:

Thanks so much for posting this article. My father is Lanny Bassham and we were just talking about the 1972 Olympics the other day. He is still teaching Mental Management and has several students competing at the Games – his book “With Winning in Mind” has been revised and includes some great Olympic stories as well.
