Lewis to DL, Perez called up, could start Tuesday
The Rangers placed Colby Lewis on the disabled list with right forearm tendinitis, retroactive to July 19, before Monday’s series opener against the Red Sox. Martin Perez was called up from Triple-A Round Rock and, if he does not pitch out of the bullpen Monday, is expected to start in Lewis’ place on Tuesday.
Lewis allowed one run in five innings during Wednesday’s loss to the A’s, his first start since being placed on the DL before the All-Star break. He’s 6-6 with a 3.43 ERA this year.
Perez went 1-1 with a 5.54 ERA in four appearances with the Rangers this season before being optioned to Round Rock when Lewis was activated earlier this month.
