Colby Lewis out for season with torn flexor tendon in right elbow
The Rangers announced Monday that right-hander Colby Lewis will miss the remainder of the season with a torn flexor tendon in his right elbow. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list for the second time this season Monday afternoon with tendinitis in his right forearm before the club announced that Lewis would not return this year.
Lewis, the Rangers’ Opening Day starter, went 6-6 with a 3.43 ERA in 16 starts this season, striking out 93 and walking 14 in 105 innings. His 6.64 strikeout-to-walk ratio stands as the best in the Majors. He went 4-1 with a 2.34 ERA in eight postseason starts over the last two years.
