Ogando has MRI, but decision whether to put him on DL won’t be made today
Alexi Ogando had an MRI on his strained right groin Monday but it will not be evaluated in time for the Rangers to make a decision on whether or not to place the right-hander on the disabled list.
Team physician Keith Meister is currently out of town and will not be available to look at Ogando’s MRI until tonight at the earliest. An update on Ogando’s injury could come as early as Tuesday.
Ogando pitched three scoreless innings in Sunday’s series finale against the Giants before injuring his groin while beating out a bunt single in the top of the fourth. He was making his first start of the season, taking Derek Holland’s place in the rotation as Holland landed on the DL with left shoulder fatigue last Thursday. Matt Harrison pinch-ran for Ogando and Robbie Ross replaced him on the mound as the Rangers went on to cap off their 10-game road trip with a 5-0 win.
