Rangers All-Time Team Voting Begins Today

The Rangers have been in Arlington for 40 years and are asking fans to pick the all-time Texas Rangers team.

If you want to vote on this, you can go to www.texasrangers.com/alltimeteam and cast you ballot. Voting runs through May 31, the team will be announced in June and will be honored Aug. 11 before the Rangers three-game series with the Tigers.  You vote for one player at each position except three outfielders, two starting pitchers and two relievers.

The nominees on the ballot were selected by the club’s all-time leaders in games played at each position while pitchers were selected by wins, games started, appearances and saves.

Here are the nominees

First base: Will Clark, Mike Hargrove, Pete O’Brien, Rafael Palmeiro and Mark Teixeira.

Second base: Julio Franco, Ian Kinsler, Mark McLemore, Bump Wills, Michael Young.

Shortstop: Elvis Andrus, Scott Fletcher, Toby Harrah, Alex Rodriguez, Michael Young

Third base: Buddy Bell, Hank Blalock, Steve Buechele, Toby Harrah, Dean Palmer

Outfield: Juan Beniquez, Jeff Burroughs, Nelson Cruz, Juan Gonzalez, Rusty Greer, Josh Hamilton, Pete Incaviglia, Oddibe McDowell, Kevin Mench, David Murphy, Al Oliver, Larry Parrish, Bill Sample, Ruben Sierra, Gary Ward, George Wright

Starting pitchers; Kevin Brown, Jose Guzman, Rick Helling, Charlie Hough, Ferguson Jenkins, Jon Matlack, George Medich, Kevin Millwood, Darren Oliver, Roger Pavlik, Gaylord Perry, Kenny Rogers, Nolan Ryan, Bobby Witt

Relievers: Francisco Cordero, Danny Darwin, Neftali Feliz, Frank Francisco, Tom Henke, Kenny Rogers, Jeff Russell, John Wetteland, Mitch Williams.

Designated hitter: Brian Downing, Juan Gonzalez, Tom Grieve, Rafael Palmeiro, Larry Parrish.

Problem I see is Michael Young is listed both at 2B and SS. That will split his vote and could actually leave him off. An all-time Ranger team without Michael Young would be a travesty.

catcher. Ivan Rodriguez.
first base Raffi Palmiero
second base Ian Kinsler
ss Elvis Andrus
3rd base Buddy Bell
outfield Josh Hamilton
Jaun Gonzalez
Al Oliver
dh Micheal Young
SP ferguson Jenkins

Catcher: Sorry Pudge, but i’ve got to go Jim Sundberg here because of everything he has meant to the organization not only on the field, but off and in the front office. Most will think I’m crazy. If it is only based on playing then it is Pudge hands down.
1st Base: Will Clark…..Field General!
2nd Base: Ian Kinsler…there’s been no other like him here.
3rd Base: Buddy Bell…the best on some bad teams. I’ll never forget his walk off grand slam vs. the Brewers!
SS: Elvis someday but right now? Toby Harrah. Once again a Ranger through and through.

OF: Hamilton, Greer, Sierra
DH: Here is where I write in Michael Young
SP: Fergie Jenkins/Nolan Ryan
Reliever: Neftali Feliz for his role in getting us into 2 straight series.

Hey….where is everybody? Where is good ol’ Monday Morning Manager, etc. Please tell me there is nothing to talk about when the team is great! Congrats to Weaver on a gem last night. Darvish’s game felt like one of those until Encarnacion hit that homer. He was untouchable.

Catcher: Pudge Rodriguez
1st Base: Raphael Palmiero
2nd Base: Ian Kinsler
3rd Base: Buddy Bell
SS: Michael Young

Reliever: John Wetteland and Tom Henke

This list changes dramatically when the team celebrates it’s 50 year anniversary and will be heavily skewed with current players.
