The Afternoon Nine…Kinsler, Feliz, Moreland

Live from the workout at the Ballpark in Arlington….

1. Discussions between the Rangers and Ian Kinsler’s agent are on-going. There is still work to be done before a deal is reached but there seems there might be a chance it could get done. 24 hours to go…

2. Neftali Feliz allowed one run in six innings in a simulated game on Thursday morning. He threw 102 pitches. The batters were Alberto Gonzalez and Craig Gentry.

3. With left-hander John Danks on the mound for the White Sox tomorrow, Mitch Moreland will be out of the lineyp, according to manager Ron Washington. Mike Napoli will start at first, Yorvit Torrealba will catch and Michael Young will be the designated hitter.

4. David Murphy will start in left, Washington confirmed. Murphy hasn’t started on Opening Day since 2008.

5. Michael Young will tie Ivan Rodriguez with 11 consecutive Opening Days starts when he takes the field on Friday. That is the club record.

6. Rangers manager Ron Washington on White Sox manager Robin Ventura: “I spoke to Robin a couple of times in Spring Training and wished him well. He’ll do a good job as manager. I always admired Robin as a player, I think he’ll instill his attitude in his players and be very succcessful.

7. Michael Young on Yu Darvish fitting into the clubhouse, “The way to get someone to feel comfortable in the clubhouse is to insult them every chance you get. He gives it right back.”

8. Matt Harrison is on the Opening Day roster for the fourth straight year. He is the only Rangers pitcher who can make that claim.

9. Washington said Nelson Cruz will be in the lineup despite his bruised left elbow and Mike Adams (bruised left calf) should be ready to pitch if needed.”
