Rangers release Brad Hawpe

The Rangers have released Brad Hawpe so he can look for a Major League job. They have invited him back if he can’t get one. The Rangers needed him to play the outfield but he is still recovering from Tommy John surgery from last August.

How could anyone have expected any different result. The guy can’t reliably throw yet. I have no doubt that he will someday…maybe.

If/When he doesn’t get a big league deal somewhere else I hope he’d accept a minor league role in Texas. Seems like a high character guy that would be a benefit to the organization.

Ego will play a big role in it. I hope he does too.

Wish him nothing but the best and hope that includes being with the Rangers sometime further in the year.
