Rangers Not Optimistic About Wilson – Have Talked With Buehrle
Rangers Club Officials at the Winter Meetings are not optimistic about signing LHP CJ Wilson. They feel that his asking price is too high and that he will probably sign with the Angels or the Marlins.
The Rangers did meet with Mark Buerhle’s representatives Tuesday night. He is supposedly looking for a 4-year deal which Texas is not comfortable with giving Buerhle. Club officials have mixed feelings about Buerhle: some in the organization like the fact that Buerhle has pitched alot of innings and is a proven veteran, however, others in the organization feel that he is at the beginning of the downside of his career.
It is possible that the Rangers will leave the Winter Meetings without any change to the current projected rotation – except without CJ Wilson.
