This isn’t all that surprising. JD hinted at it during radio interviews after the Nathan signing when asked about the Rangers pursuit of a first baseman. JD said they would know more about Moreland’s condition soon, but he didn’t sound overly optimistic that the injury was minor.
It will be interesting to see what the Rangers do this off season. I would imagine that they will pursue some type of bat for first baseman to protect themselves if Moreland doesn’t recover as expected. How big of a bat is yet to be seen. Winter meetings only a few days away…
