Brewers hire Johnny Narron as hitting coach
The Rangers are losing assistant hitting coach Johnny Narron. The Brewers have hired him as their hitting coach to replace Dale Sveum.
Narron, the brother of former Rangers manager Jerry Narron, has been with the club the past four years. He was their assistant hitting coach this past season.
Narron was originally hired four years ago after the Rangers acquired outfielder Josh Hamilton from the Reds. The two have a long-time relationship and Narron was hired as a mentor to help Hamilton as he continued his recovery from drug and alcohol abuse.
Narron had the same role with the Reds in 2007. Prior to that he spent four years in the Brewers organization as a Minor League hitting coach and manager. Jerry Narron is currently on the Brewers staff as the bench coach.
