O’Day to start rehab Monday

Pitcher Darren O’Day will be assigned to Double A Frisco on Monday to begin his medical rehabilitation assignment. He will also pitch Wednesday for Triple A Round Rock. O’Day threw 50 pitches of live batting practice on Saturday and all went well. He will take PFP on Sunday just to make sure everything is working. He has been sidelined since April 28 with a torn labrum in his left hip.

Okay… so… O’Day comes back all healthy and everything and needs a spot in the bullpen. Tateyama and Lowe are pitching too well to send them back down. Kirkman needs to get some regular time at the big league level to readjust to pitching there. Oliver and Rhodes have clearly defined roles… Does this spell the end of the David Bush era, as Kirkman would then be the “de facto” long relief guy?

To compound the issue still further, we could be ten-fifteen days from the reemergence of Scott Feldman AND Brandon Webb as options for the pitching staff. Part of me has to wonder… is Feldman going to get packaged with Borbon for a couple trades, allowing Webb to boot Holland back to the ‘pen? Then what do you do with Hunter in another month? This is going to be an interesting next month… are the Rangers in line for some new prospects at the deadline?

I totally agree. There’s no room in the Inn (so to speak). I wonder what’s going to happen.
