Mark Lowe replaces Pedro Strop
The Rangers have called up pitcher Mark Lowe from Triple A Round Rock and sent down pitcher Pedro Strop. Lowe is in Seattle and will be available for Wednesday’s game. He was 1-0 with a 2.89 ERA in six appearances at Round Rock. He had not allowed a run over 4.1 innings in his last three games. Strop had a 3.72 ERA for the Rangers.
Brandon Webb, who is in extended Spring Training, will not pitch in a game on Thursday. Instead Webb will throw in the bullpen instead. The Rangers decided Webb needed more work on his mechanics before returning to game action. He hasn’t pitched in a Major League game in over two years because of a shoulder injury.
