Tomko added to roster
The Rangers have added veteran pitcher Brett Tomko to their Spring Training roster. He was signed at the beginning of camp to a Minor League contract. He has been working on the Minor League side and now will be in the Major League clubhouse.
Pitcher Zach Phillips has been optioned to Triple A Round Rock.
Pitcher Fabio Castillo and outfielder Engel Beltre have been optioned to Double A Frisco.
Pitcher Wilmer Font has been optioned to Class A Myrtle Beach. He will miss the season after undergoing Tommy John elbow reconstruction surgery.
Adrian Beltre (strained calf muscle) is hoping to play in a game by Monday.
