Michael Young trade not looking likely at this point
Sources say the chance of Michael Young being traded are not good. One source said there is a “high probability” that Young could still be with the Rangers this season as their designated hitter and “super utility” infielder.
Teams are kicking the tires but nobody has really stepped up. The three years and $48 million that Young has remaining on his contract remains an obstacle.
General manager Jon Daniels said he is still trying to accomodate Young’s request for a trade but said they are still in the same situation as they were earlier in the week. At this point the Rangers appear to be dealing with the eight teams on Young’s list and that list has yet to be expanded.
Daniels said if there is a trade, it would most likely be before the Rangers first full-squad workout in Surprise a week from Saturday. At this point, the Rangers and Young may have to come to some sort of reconcilliation.

Oh, man I bet all the disrespect from those 29 other GM’s not wanting to take on Michael Young’s bloated salary are making him so mad. Disrespect!
It maybe a GOD send that we can’t make a trade for Michael. We need his leadership, presence and bat; we can’t trade him for nothing and pay someone to play for them. Now Young should have Said NO when approached with the DH and Super Utility idea…..that would have been ideal. But after thinking about it, he became angry and is balking of being used one more time (from second, to short, to third and now this). Management must now get Young back by reminding him that he is Captain, has the highest Ranger salary and didn’t want to trade him In the first place but was simply listening to inquiries from other teams who evidently were only fishing. But to complete this task of winning Michael back will require the sacrifice of someone else – in this case Moreland. The club must give and announce that Young is the Ranger’s First baseman. Not a platoon arrangement but at the position daily. Then during Spring Training, even if it means additional coaches and backup infielders, Young, Moreland and Davis need to be bombarded with all phases of 1st Base defensive drills. Then extensive hitting practice. This effort will benefit all three; defense primarily for Young and Moreland and hitting primarily for Moreland and Davis. It is the best interest of the Rangers to fully develope
Con’t Rangers need to develop these three for the future, Michael for another 1-2 years and Moreland and Davis to inherit the position or become valuable for trades.
We must make a move to win back Michael. But I like Moreland, he may become a very good hitter and he can play the outfield. Davis is the best fielding first baseman for his age I have seen; and if he can learn to hit for average will be an All-Star.
one might say OK but a hole exists at DH. Not so, DH does not have to be a dedicated player – Use Hamilton, Murphy, Young and/or Moreland as determinedly the coaches. And for Pete’s sake keep Josh out of center field to preserve him and let Barbon develop in Centerfield. We need his speed on the basepaths
As an Astros fan, I keep hoping Michael Young will be sent down I-45 to Houston, and a Young for Carlos Lee trade would seem to fill needs on both sides. It’s been said that Nolan Ryan doesn’t want Carlos Lee, though. Have you heard anything more about this that you can share? Thanks!

There’s speculation that Lee wouldn’t waive his no trade clause to come to Texas.
Just can’t believe this mess. The media is saying that the Texas Rangers are becoming an embarassment. A new low…why did Ranger execs think it wise to change a first time ever World Series Lineup? Don’t replace Lee and take away Young and Guerrero or you don’t make it again. A first grader could have figured that our. Please ignore your egos Ranger execs…or you’re gonna ignore the World Series for another 40 years…replace Lee and take Young a humble pie and apologize. Let the guy play wherever he wants.

HOW ‘BOUT IT? THIS MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL…FIX IT PLEASE. GET A PITCHER AND APPEASE MICHAEL YOUNG BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE…AND TRY TO GET GUERRERO BACK…TRADE ANDRUS FOR GOD’S SAKE OR OUR NO NAME FIRST BASEMAN AND ONE OF OUR SEMI-PLAY TIME CATCHERS…KEEP MICHAEL YOUNG!!!!
Keep the best player that the Rangers have ever had…..Michael Young. Get rid of “sad sack” Jon Daniels. He has as much personality as a rock!!! Michael has done so much for the Rangers and has been bounced from one position to another, thanks to Jon Daniels. Daniels has not one time done anything that could be considered as being nice to Michael Young! Daniels just does not care about Michael and he is totally wrong there. He needs to take a “walk” and leave the Rangers to keep Michael to help the team win another year championship. Jon Daniels sure cannot help the Rangers win and does nothing to help the team with the new players that he says he is getting to help the team. All he is doing is dragging down the players who admire Michael and what he stands for and what he has done for the team. KEEP MICHAEL YOUNG AND GET RID OF JON DANIELS!!!!!! Michael has a personality….something that Jon Daniels knows nothing about. Nolan, see what Jon Daniels is doing to the team and let him go join the unemployment line where he belongs, not Michael Young.
