Rangers Meet With Lee – Make Multiple Offers
Members of Rangers management and ownership met with free agent LHP Cliff Lee this evening in Arkansas. The Rangers contingent included: Chuck Greenberg, part owner Ray Davis and Assistant GM Thad Levine. They met for 90 mintues with Lee, his wife Kristen and agent Darek Braunecker.
Greenberg said he didn’t think it was appropriate to discuss specifics, but he did say the Rangers presented multiple offers, with a substantial committment in years and dollars.
The Rangers said the Red Sox signing of Carl Crawford was one of the main reasons they made the trip to Arkansas today..
Greenberg said he felt good about the discussions and that the Rangers are not going to give Lee a timetable to make a decision on their offer.
