Rangers still planning on Hunter

Down 2-0 in the World Series, manager Ron Washington was asked the inevitable question…

Would he consider pitching Cliff Lee on three days rest in Game 4?

The answer is most likely not.

The Rangers plan is to have Colby Lewis pitch and win Game 3, hand the ball to Tommy Hunter for Game 4 and save Lee for Game 5.

“That’s the plan,” pitching coach Mike Maddux.

Lee has never pitched on three days rest. He continually says that he’ll do whatever the Rangers ask of him. Washington said they have never sat down and talked to Lee about pitching on three days rest.

They really don’t want to do it. Just have to wait and see what happens in Game 3.
