Rangers sign Mark Prior
The Rangers have signed pitcher Mark Prior to a Minor League contract. He will pitch in relief at Oklahoma City. This is a long-term project and he is not expected to help the Rangers this season.
Prior was an 18-game winner for the Cubs in 2003 but hasn’t pitched in the Major Leagues since 2006 when he was 1-6 with a 7.21 ERA in nine starts. He has had a variety of injuries in his career but it was a devastating shoulder injury that has shut him down for four years.
He was the second overall pick behind Joe Mauer in the 2001 draft.
The right-hander signed an independent league contract with the Orange County Flyers of the Golden Baseball League on August 3 and has allowed one unearned run over 9 relief appearances (11.0 IP), while compiling 22 strikeouts against 5 walks.

I love this move too. Little financial committment for a potential impact player in the future.
This could be one of the best singing since Darren ODay if he can stay healthy.
Nolan Ryan has a better shot at returning to the big leagues.

who cares about Prior, I cant believe that ***-HAT Alex Cora got thrown out at 3rd tonight. Big dummy!
Ranger coaches will have to revamp his delivery… he was way too herky-jerky. His arm can throw missles, but it wears his body out. Feliz seems to be the model for less movement, with power/control. “The change” worked for Bleavan… now Prior?
