Rangers announce roster moves
The Rangers have recalled catcher Taylor Teagarden and left-hander Clay Rapada from Triple-A Oklahoma City, reinstated right-hander Dustin Nippert off the 15-day disabled list and assigned outfielder Brandon Boggs to Triple-A after he cleared waivers.
Omar Beltre was also recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City, but the righty was in turn placed on the 60-day disabled list with a right ankle sprain, thus ending his season.
Nippert was placed on the DL with a head contusion on July 20, a day after being struck in the head by an Austin Jackson liner in the sixth inning. He then pitched 6 1/3 shutout innings spanning three rehab games.
Teagarden, who has batted .143 (8-for-56) with four homers and six RBIs in 21 games with the Rangers this season, will be making his third stint with the Major League club.
The 29-year-old Rapada has spent the entire season with Oklahoma City, posting a 1.82 ERA and notching two saves in 50 relief appearances.
Beltre, who previously made two starts with Texas and allowed seven runs in seven innings, went 3-9 with a 2.65 ERA in 24 games (14 starts) in Triple-A.
Boggs was designated for assignment in the wake of the Jeff Francoeur trade.
