Lowell out; Francouer maybe
The Rangers and the Red Sox have been dancing around Mike Lowell for seven months. Now it looks like the dance will end with nothing happening.
Thursday afternoon the word was the Rangers were engaged in Lowell.
Now the Rangers are saying that’s not going to happen.
Said a club official, “Nothing is happening with Lowell.”
At this point Jeff Francouer may be the Rangers best chance of getting a right-handed bat.
Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein is telling people is club doesn’t anticipate any more significant moves before tonight’s deadline.
