Daniels: No on Roy Oswalt
According to Rangers general manager Jon Daniels, “there is no truth” to an internet report that the Rangers are close to acquiring Roy Oswalt.
No doubt the Rangers would like Oswalt. But they can’t afford him. They are looking for starting pitching and they would like a right-handed bat. Some of the names that the Rangers could be interested in are Wes Helms of the Marlins, Conor Jackson of Arizona, Mike Lowell of the Red Sox and Ty Wiggington of the Orioles. The Rangers like Helms because he can play first, third, DH and can pinch-hit.
Didn’t get close to Key West. Another great day on the road.
