Ramirez called up… Teagarden sent down. Saltalamacchia optioned

The Rangers made the following moves with their catchers…

* Max Ramirez was called up from Triple A Oklahoma City.

* Taylor Teagarden has been optioned to Oklahoma City.

* Jarrod Saltalamacchia has been taken off medical rehab assignment and optioned to Oklahoma City.

* Matt Treanor will be the No. 1 catcher and Ramirez will be his backup.

Ramirez was hitting .289 (13-45) at Oklahoma City with no home runs, three doubles and four RBI in 13 games.

Saltalamacchia will be the No. 1 catcher at Oklahoma City. The Rangers want both him and Teagarden to go play.

Saltalamacchia has to be at Oklahoma City for 10 days. The Rangers want him concentrating on playing and not worrying about when he’ll be recalled to the big leagues.

It’s my fondest hope that this and the demotion of Chris Davis sends a message to the young Rangers, For a major League starter to be 1-fer or 2-ferat this time of the season is uncalled for.

Bottom line though this is one of the worst hitting teams in baseball now…some one had better figure out why.

Bottom line a couple of the starters had better figure out how to get the ball over the plate for a strike…soon.
